The site for the bio-energy plant should have:
- 3-5 acres with appropriate zoning
- Transportation access
- Year round need for thermal energy from hot water/steam or absorption chilling
- Proximity to hydro grid or natural gas pipeline
- Proximity to organic inputs
- Proximity to available land for application of residue
